I love a little recap on our past year to remember how much we’ve actually achieved. Life can get busy and we forget to truly appreciate all that’s happened and why. Here’s our recap on 2021, and some of the goals we are working towards in 2022.
Recapping 2021
I know we’re already into our second week of 2022, but since lessons started yesterday, I thought it would be a good time to recap on our 2021 year. Wow, 2021 was a beautiful full year that stretched us in all the ways I never knew possible. It was a year filled with self-improvement, wildly important goals that somehow I managed to achieve and a year of leaning into family, self worth & more singing opportunities.
If I look back on my goals for 2021 (you can see my vision board here), I can truly stay that the overarching goal, to surround myself with people who love singing was achieved. My students (who I LOVE teaching) truly love singing and it is both inspiring and motivating for me as a teacher and singer. Our end-of-year showcase was so special for me and I can’t wait for many more.
I have also performed more songs for my own family (and extended family, friends!) whilst preparing for some of my singing Dream Builder events. While I couldn’t expand my own singing performances on a grander scales, the smaller (read: covid-friendly) events that I have been able to book in this past year were just right. Just like our instagram post today, I didn’t miss out on anything that was just right for me.
I also enrolled a few of my students into my Singit Voice method Syllabus! These students will be completing assessments and exams for in April 2022. We also started our very first Singit Group Class which has been loads of fun and loads of learning for all of us including me and my daughters (who have also enrolled in those group classes). As a mom, I wasn’t sure how singing and teaching them would play out BUT I have seen them shining their little lights on stage and in life and it just makes my heart beam.
Lastly, we sold our home in Cranston Riverstone and found our dream home only 6 minutes away on Dunbow Road in De Winton, right next to Artesia. We have renovated our barn into my Singing Studio which I now teach from and some days I actually have to pinch myself that what was once a thought and a dream is now our reality. I have been able to spend quality time with my husband and girls in many DIY projects around our new home and to say that I am grateful for achieving every goal I set is an understatement. Like my song Dare To Dream Big says, A dream is more than just a dream, a dream is your power.
My 2022 Goals:
My 2022 goals include my mom moving to Canada as both her children and all her grandchildren live here now. Growing my business, renting out the office in my studio to someone who is great at social media, email marketing and workflows, to put our Singit Coffee bar into the studio so students and parents can sit back relax and enjoy the melodies. I would like to save more, pay a little extra on our mortgage each month and go to Mexico or Hawaii with my family. For Singit, I’d love to do more open mic nights and student showcases. I will be doing a singers retreat with Samantha Landers from Luminous in July & I will be going back to South Africa to scatter my Dad’s ashes and see family and friends that we haven’t seen in a while.
I hope you know that the minute a thought enters your mind its at work in the universe and just small daily steps will bring that dream into reality. Happy goal setting for 2022. Here’s to living a life we all love living!
